The club has had some extremely positive news, of which it can be justly proud, on its involvement in this important Olympic year.
Club President Roy Stratton has been selected as a torch-bearer, alongside Bela Nagy and Darren St Clair . Roy will also be assisting in providing services in the Olympic Stadium together with his wife, Beryl.
Club chairman John Mercer has been selected as a Volunteer and will be based in The Mall.
Several Young Gamesmakers have been chosen, following a request from Julie Brown. They are: Emily Bulleid, Tom Carter, Ben Lawrence, Beth Grimsey, Jo Willard, Andre Coggins, Mary Fasipe, Akesha Smith, Ama Pipi, Danielle McLennaghan and Katie Brown. They've already had a team leadership course and what's really exciting is that one of their shifts at the Olympic Stadium will include the 100 metres final - something to remember for ever.
