Ultimate team spirit and enthusiasm has played an important part this season with all of the athletes now realising that team commitment is certainly the road to victory. In B13, tough competition in the 100m did not prove too much for Essex Schools champ and 3rd ranked Michael Forde, who sped to victory in an impressive grade one performance of 12.2s. Team mate Clinton Fubara was close behind in 3rd and achieved a personal best of 13s. Clinton then went one place better in 200m and doubled up with another pb of 26.5 and continued his busy afternoon by winning the shot put with just one throw! In G15 hurdles, both Kaeshelle Cooke and Georgia Green gained pbs in remarkable grade 1 times of 11.7 and 11.8 respectively. B15 Rueben Arthur continued his impressive form with victories and pbs in both 100m(11.4) and 200m(24.0). Kaesheele then went on to win the long jump in a grade one performance of 4.98m. G13 Tyla Beckles maintained her grade 1 performances with pbs in both 75m(9.8s) and 150m(19.5), making her 3rd ranked in the country. Out on the field the famous duet of Chris Kandu and Horeb Makabudiki, continued their form with a 1st and 2nd position in the high jump. Chris was not up to his usual form after suffering a slight hamstring pull but Horeb leapt a personal best of 1.77m and continued his success by a 1st in the 400m later on in the day. A run of great performances and lots of pbs (far too many to mention), together with victory in all but one of the sprint relays, definitely puts the YA squad in strong contention for a deserved place at the Main Finals in Manchester on September 5th. |
