There were a string of personal bests set at Bedford which gave the club a strong second placing , and with one match to go in Liverpool an excellent opportunity to reach the Premiership for the first time.

Rachel Telfer-James set the pace with a wind-assisted 100m B string win in 11.97s, then stormed round the 200m in lane 8 with a fantastic 24.28s smashing her pb by more than half a second on her way to victory.

Tunrayo Nubi won both A string sprints in 11.74s and 24.54s both marginally wind-assisted. Denise Gayle and Michelle McNamara, also in lane 8, won their 400m races in fine style but the 4x100m relay team did not get the baton round - fortunately not making a difference to the team scores.

On the field Felicia Rudolfo extended her Javelin pb by 3 metres to 39.30m for 5th place and B string thrower Izzy Krassismenou also pb'd with 30.04m for 2nd place.

Mel Harrison was 2nd in the Shot , and Dee Bakre took two 3rd places in the Long and Triple Jumps. Nikki Silva battled well to take 3rd in the 800m.

The 4x400m team took the last race of the day comfortably to confirm their 2nd place position.
